Karama Film Festival focuses on ‘transformations in human rights’

The 13th Karama Human Rights Film Festival, was launched on Thursday 15/12/2022 at the Royal Cultural Center in Amman, under the theme “Transformations in Human Rights”.
The festival lasted from December 15–21 and screened 65 films from 50 different countries.
The week-long festival discussed developments in the world’s human rights trajectory, with various film screenings covering discussions on the global human rights situation.
Films were screened daily at the Royal Cultural Center between 5pm to 9pm in the presence of filmmakers and the festival’s guests.
The festival opened with a special film by French director Jean-Luke Godard and the Jordanian animated short film Zoo by Tariq Rimawi. Lebanese artist Ahmad Kaabour was a guest at the opening ceremony and presented a collection of his most prominent songs.
Ihab Al-Khatib, director of the Karama Festival said the festival aims to focus on human rights in cinema, adding that audiences have found themselves confronting real shifts in humanitarian issues after two years of COVID-19 restrictions.
